Preparing for the 2025 Civil War: Brolic Army Battle for Supremacy

The Civil War: Battle for Supremacy is the largest tournament at our school. It’s an opportunity for students to present and showcase how hard they’ve worked in all phases of DJing (music curation, mixing, scratching, juggling, and body tricks) throughout the year. It can be a tense and nerve-racking experience as a competitor. That said, preparation is key and builds your confidence, ensuring you give yourself the best possible chance of taking home the championship belt.
There are several different ways, both psychologically and physically, that you could prepare. Here are six!
1. Decide What Songs You Want To Integrate In Your Routines
The first stage of your preparation involves planning the music you want to work with and how you want to transform it. Over the next 10 weeks (entries will be due the first weekend in October), you need to come up with five battle routines. One for the preliminary round. Another for the head-to-head Quarter Finals, A semi-finals routine, and then two routines for the final round. Divide these 10 weeks into five two-week periods. Every two weeks, you should aim to create one fire routine that incorporates as many of the techniques we teach at Brolic Army DJ School as possible.
2. Going From Good to Great
Contestants will find out if their preliminary round entry has qualified them for the Quarter Finals no later than Friday, October 10th. The following four weeks should be spent rehearsing the routine you plan on using against your first head-to-head opponent. Rehearse, rehearse, and rehearse until you reach the stage where you feel fully confident in executing your composition.
3. It Takes More Than Practice To Win
While practice does make progress, it’s also essential to understand your opponent. Study your competition and identify how you can capitalize on their weaknesses.
4. Think Positive
A positive mindset is a valuable tool for students who will compete this year, influencing their performance and overall experience battling against their classmates. I want you to please be sure to believe in your abilities. Setbacks and challenges are inevitable on your journey to preparing; view them as learning opportunities rather than defeats. Adversity is often a better teacher than success. Focus on the process of training rather than the outcome of winning. Effort will give you the confidence you need to get through the tournament.
5. What Is The Competition Like
Researching our previous years’ Civil Wars. Watching what past students have done to succeed is great for learning how to strategize.
6. Have Fun
While winning this year’s battle is the motivating factor for competing, it’s crucial to have fun throughout the process. Focusing solely on winning and executing can lead to burnout, anxiety, and a diminished appreciation for the experience of battling itself.
Final words…
You don’t become a Civil War: Brolic Army Battle for Supremacy champion just by winning the belt shown above. To be a Brolic Army champ, you need to carry yourself like one long before you hold this belt. That means talking, walking, and most importantly, training like a champion starting TODAY.
*Entries for the 2025 Civil War preliminary round are due by October 5th, which is 10 weeks from now. So, train like a champion if you aim to be this year’s champion
