Thank you DJ Johnny Juice for breaking this down and giving advice on how to come up with great scratch patterns/routines on a song. I’m extra hyped because Public Enemy was my favorite hip-hop group back in the day, so seeing how the scratches on Terminator X To The Edge of Panic were formulated and arranged was great.
Something that I have known for a long time but I never applied it to my DJ career, “Less Is More”, its not about how good you are, its all about lifting the vibe of a song and not sounding clutterish when scratching!!!! Juice laid out the perfect explanation for building his scratch track/pattern for the Public Enemy track…I know this video will allow me create my own scratch arrangements knowing in full that they don’t have to be so technical…thx again Rob, for providing more light to the dj culture!!!
WORD. Pure gold this! Johnny Juice and others were responsible for pulling me into hip hop in my school days through efforts exactly like this!! (Nation of millions was one of my most abused cassettes) But i never knew my beloved PE had a little Milli Vanilli in them LOL
