The history lesson in progressive advancement of ‘minor’ discoveries in dj techniques… I grew up when all of this was happening but didn’t understand the intricacies.Thank you for breaking it down as choreographed hand movements.
Really enjoying these vid’s Rob! Back in the 90’s when we bought our 1200’s and wanted to create the sounds we were hearing in our rap songs or from snips on TV, Local radio shows or VHS recordings of DMC and stuff…Even like knowing who you were but only seeing bits and peices and sometimes mixing you up with Cutmaster Swift lol, that’s all we had and like you said even my group of friends were super competitive and secretive..really we cut off our noses to spite our progression, but the love of the sound just kept you searching, asking questions and wanting more, all the little pieces that i knew from across the pond you are now filling in the gaps and its just like reliving it all again <3 They don't know how accessible they got it now but i still wouldn't swap it for all the lino sheets, the shocking lyrics, the fresh graffiti and the funky thumping beats all so fresh and gold LP after gold LP!
