After a very close battle for first place between deejayAGUI and Goldyi, AGUI came out on top by 1 point for the 2023 A CUT ABOVE CHALLENGE title!

In tailing that unexplainable urge to scratch records under the tutelage of my brother, alongside my 6th grade friend, and not judging it, “Rob, you’re a Breaker, you won’t make a good DJ,” I allowed purpose to find me through the passion I had for Hip Hop as a whole.

Battle season is upon us and DJs worldwide are spending hours upon hours locked inside their bedrooms mastering the most difficult styles of battle DJing in hopes that this will be the year all of that practice pays off! Scratching is one of the techniques you’ve gotta be able to flex if your goal is to win anything!

Looking back I clearly see that I won all 4 DJ competitions I entered.

A cult status develops around some who die in their prime, and Raida definitely qualifies as one of those iconic figures who suddenly left this earth that people still honor. It’s been 14 years since Raida’s departure and I continue to think of him always. There’s not a day I don’t cherish Raida’s impact on my life which is probably an indication I haven’t completely healed from his passing.

When you chew on that for a second or two, nothing could be more tragic than to stop and consider the economic inequality which exists within the billion dollar industry that DJing has become.
