It would be super helpful if you could right down the sounds that appear on the right turntable and sounds that appear on the left turntable as you juggle and invert the pattern back, to loop it. e.g. kick, kick on the right, then kick on the left, then snare on the right,…. then I get a bit lost after that???
Finally, got this move. I had to come back to it after learning the other nine root movements. Rob, thanks very much for this tutorial. This was by far the hardest move of the 10 for me but I got it. Will now incorporate the variant.
This one is really tricky.. the accuracy on the 16th note drops is totally essential otherwise the snare doesn’t fit right or the timing sounds way off. I had to find a slower break and pitch it way down to break it down to my brain. Once I got it I was able to speed it back up to close to the Stezo track, but I’m still struggling to execute it consistently. Going to continue to grind this one until I’m happy with my accuracy. I mix and scratch hamster style so when i was seeing the mechanics of how you were feeding the fader to the other hand I thought I was going to be absolutely screwed lol.
These beat juggling tutorials are leaps and bounds better than anything I’ve ever found on youtube. I like Taiji’s, but the subtitled explanations definitely a bit lacking compared to yours and you don’t get the history lesson of how we got to where we are, which I find inspirational to my own creative process. One thing that I would love to see would be a tutorial on beat drumming techniques and history.
I’m glad you’re finding our Beat Juggling tutorials helpful, @Discostudebaker. Be patient with yourself because once the moves click, they’ll be with you forever.
