all this time I have been DJing , growing up and watching the battles , I could never figure it out watching the hand movements until you broke it down the way you did … so so dope
I’m super moved by your willingness to still learn after what, 3 decades of battling. I remember you entered the first competition I ever joined. Cool shit Eddie!
This is a great lesson and you’ve explained it well. My only problem is that the side that I have to do the fills with (the fourth variation.) When I spin back with all that explosive energy and have to break at the 12 o’clock position to start the pattern over, my stylist jumps the record. I’ve added more weight to the tone arm but I still have the same problem. I’m not sure if I have to be more gentle and more precise but any advice would help, thank you.
It sounds like you’re very heavy handed which can definitely be a problem with certain Beat Juggle movements. I use the balls of my finger tips and flick the record back to the 12 O’clock position when I back spin. You’re most likely slapping the record to rewind it. Make sure you watch the “Root Move #1: Back Spinning” tutorial inside the Fundamentals of Beat Juggling course – from 21:57 through 24:58. What I cover at that time stamp should be helpful to you.
Thanks a lot, I didn’t realize how much force I was putting down onto the platter. I can actually put the recommended weight back on to the stylist. I just have to keep on practicing. ??
After viewing/practicing the snare pattern, this lesson was very easy to follow. I only have to focus on training my mechanics to muscle memory. I’m happy about that! Big ups for encouraging us to slow it down too, because that is EXACTLY what I plan to do! 💪🏿
Wow Rob. I’ve been watching your videos for the longest time and just based on those videos I have improved. To have a proper lesson is like gold. You were made for teaching others! Salute💪
