I strongly suggest starting to learn to crab with a looping tone sound. Just focus on your fader hand to build that muscle memory. I don’t think the person in the video was ready to coordinate crabbing the fader and moving the record back and forth. And pay very special attention to producing FOUR individual sounds. I hear THREE tone crabs all the time (which I’m guilty of as well). In my case, my ring finger follows too closely after my pinkie to delineate the 2 separate sounds. It happens so quick, it can be hard to know if I’m producing 3 or 4 sounds. I’ve started recording my fader hand in slo-mo on my iphone so I can check if I am making the movement properly.
